Operation 3:30

Now that I have finished my eligibility requirements for Marathon Maniacs and Half Fanatics by completing way to many races in a row over the past few weeks I can turn my full attention to my marathon spring season finale in Cleveland. I’ve been searching and researching what kind of plan to put together to reach new PRs and accomplish goals. That goal is to break 3:30:00 at the Rite Aid 2013 Cleveland Marathon on May 19. This week I was able to start that full training cycle. Yes, I do still have the Georgia Marathon between now and then, but that will be a paced race that will only serve the purpose of scratching Georgia off the 50 state list. My training program over the next few months will be centered around pace and workout time and will pull the focus away how many miles a day I train.

So here’s the plan for the week:
Monday – Rest (also going to see Blue Man Group with Anna)
Tuesday – Easy Run (8:15-9:18/mile, 45 minutes, easy effort)
Wednesday – Steady Run (7:44-8:05/mile, 45 minutes, medium effort)
Thursday – Rest/Cross Training
Friday – 1 mile intervals (7:19-7:34/mile, 2-5 minute rest, medium/hard effort)
Saturday – Long Run (8:21-9:38/mile, 75 minutes, easy effort)
Sunday – Recovery Jog (9:24-10:06/mile, 45 minutes, very easy effort)

In September 2011 I began to run around the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton, MS to burn off some excess weight & energy. That decision has led to a development that has taken over many aspects of my life. I completed my first 5k race in October of 2011, my first half marathon in November 2011, and my first full 26.2 mile marathon in January 2012. Along the way I have learned much about myself, about adversity, and about the effort level it takes to reach a goal set for yourself.
